Sixth Form Centre, Sharnbrook Upper School

Bedfordshire has a three tier state education system:
  
Lower, Middle and Upper schools.

The schools listed below are normally attended
by Felmersham and Radwell Children.
  St Mary's Church Sunday School    Sunday School, first Sunday in the month.
  Felmersham pre-school    Offers pre-school education for children aged 2½ to 5 years.
  Pinchmill Lower School*  Pinchmill Lower School, Felmersham provides state schooling for children up to age 9.
  Lincroft Middle School*   Felmersham is in the catchment area for Lincroft Middle School, Oakley
  Sharnbrook Upper School*   Felmersham is in the catchment area for Sharnbrook Upper  School.  It has a 6th form.
  Sharnbrook Community College  Adult further education is available in a wide variety of subjects. Classes are also held in other centres in North Beds.
* These schools are members of the North Bedfordshire Schools Trust (NBST). The Trust was formed in September 2007 and consists of 19 schools serving 5000 young people in the age range 3 to 18 years. The group includes 15 lower schools, 3 middle schools and one upper school. It is generally known as the Sharnbrook Pyramid because the children ultimately go to Sharnbrook Upper School. The Trust currently has four external partners: Unilever, Cranfield University, Bedford College of Further Education and Capita Sims.
  
The benefits of a school being a member of the Trust are too numerous to mention here but the following give an indication of the advantages:
  
● Use of a common curriculum so that all children are at a similar educational level when changing schools.
● Once a child enters a NBST school it has a guaranteed path through NBST schools.
● Sharing of resources is a huge benefit, for instance language teachers visit lower schools in order that children can learn a second language at a younger age.
● Each school’s IT system is connected to a main frame computer which is managed centrally.
● The Trust owns and manages all school properties.

Bedford is also noted for the following Harpur Trust public schools:    Dame Alice;  Bedford High;   Bedford Modern;   Bedford School.
